Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains what information Joker Card Guide CA collects when you visit jokercardcanada.com, how we use it, and what rights you have. It is written to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

What we don't collect

We do not collect, store, or process card numbers, expiry dates, CVV codes, banking details, or any other payment information. We do not sell or process card transactions. There is no account to create on this site, and no financial information is requested anywhere on jokercardcanada.com.

What we do collect

• Server logs. When you visit a page, our hosting provider records the IP address, the requested URL, the time of the request, the user-agent string, and the referring URL. These logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and reliability purposes and then deleted.
• Anonymous analytics. We use a privacy-respecting analytics tool that records aggregate page-view counts, country-level location, device type, and referrer. No cookies are set for this purpose, and no individual user is identified.
• Search queries (on-site). Searches typed into our on-site search box are processed entirely in your browser using a static index. No search query is sent to our servers.
• Theme preference. If you toggle dark mode, the choice is stored in your browser's localStorage on your device. We never see this value.

What we don't do

• We do not run third-party tracking pixels or social-media tracking scripts.
• We do not sell, rent, or share data with third parties for marketing.
• We do not run remarketing or behavioural advertising.
• We do not require an account to read any guide.

Cookies

We do not use tracking cookies. Strictly necessary technical state (such as your dark-mode preference) is stored in browser localStorage, which is functionally similar to a cookie but is never transmitted to our server. If we add any feature that requires cookies in the future, we will display a clear consent banner and update this page.

Outbound links

Some of our guides link to external sites (jokercard.ca, peoplesgroup.com, retailer pages, alternative providers). The privacy practices of those sites are governed by their own privacy policies, not ours. We recommend reading the privacy policy of any external site before submitting personal information to it.

Children's privacy

Our site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has somehow submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights under PIPEDA

Canadian privacy law gives you the right to request a copy of any personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, and request deletion. Because we collect almost no personal information by design, most such requests will return "we have no record of you" — but we will process and respond to every request in good faith within 30 days.

Data retention

Server logs: 30 days. Anonymous aggregate analytics: indefinitely (no individual is identifiable). Anything else: not retained.

Where data is stored

Our static site is hosted on a CDN with edge nodes in multiple countries. Server logs are aggregated in Canada or the United States depending on the provider's region. We do not transfer personal information outside Canada except as necessary for site delivery.

Changes to this policy

We will post material changes to this policy at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page is authoritative.
